It was a joke right? Seriously did anyone really think that knocking off 2.5% of a price would help anyone? Retailers were already halving prices so what real benefit did the consumer get…in my view none! Business got no benefit…all it had was extra hassle and cost in changing rates and codes to then change back now…what a waste of time and money.

Far be it for me to be political but who is paying for all this…that 2.5% may have been a drop in the ocean when buying a new fridge but it must have cost the tax man a huge figure….given where we are with our countries debt this must go down as one of the daftest things ever…nothing more than a political PR stunt!
