Contact a Family are the only UK-wide charity who provide advice and information, as well as support, to the parents of all disabled children, regardless of their disability or condition. Edinburgh Young Carers Project

This organisation works with, and on behalf of, young carers all throughout the Edinburgh region. They work with young people aged between five and 25 years old affected by someone at home, usually a partner or sibling. HemiHelp

HemiHelp is a charity based in the UK dedicateded to supporting children and young people with hemiplegia, and their families. The condition affects up to one in one thousand children with effects similar to those of a stroke. Visit HemiHelp's website.


Home Start Lorn

Home Start Lorn visits families with at least one child under five in their homes. All volunteers are parents themselves and so understand the stresses and strains which can be involved in being a parent to young children. The Charity is 35 years old and operates over 300 schemes throughout the UK. Hopscotch Edinburgh

Established for ten years, Edinburgh based charity Hopscotch aims at providing children with the childhood they deserve. The Group does not receive any Governement or local funding and so relies solely on Charitable Trusts, companies and individuals to donate the money they use to take disadvantaged children away for five day holidays. Junior World Childcare Group
Junior World Childcare's vision: "We aim to provide the children in our care with the best possible childcare catering fora ll their physical and emotional needs." This organisation works closely with Social Work to help families in need of immediate help, also offering extra support to children and families with further needs. Kidney Kids Scotland

National Youth Orchestras Scotland

The National Youth Orchestras Scotland (NYOS) provides musical opportunities for young musicians throughout Scotland. Ont top of this, the NYOS also run workshops throughout Scotland for the counrty's nurseries, primary and secondary schools. Visit National Youth Orchestras Scotland website.


NSPCC (ChildLine)

ChildLine is a service provided by the NSPCC. It offers a confidential and free child help line which is available to children and young people across the UK. Since it's launch, ChildLine has saved children's lives, found refuges for children in danger on the streets, and given hope to thousands. Visit ChildLine's website.


Prince's Trust

The Prince's Trust runs programmes encouraging young people to take responsibility for themselves; it creates an opportunity fr them to live the life they want to, and not the one which they have ended up with. Scotland Yard Adventure Centre
For almost 20 years Scotland Yard Adventure Centre, or "The Yard" as it is more commonly known, has been providing "stimulating play opportunities" for children and young people in Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and the Central Belt with additional support needs. Whizz-Kidz

Whizz-kidz Trust is a charity dedicated to giving disabled children the opportunity to lead a more independent life. Whizz-kidz offer tailored support ensuring the correct mobility equipment, advice and training at the right time. Visit Whizz Kidz website.
