Crerar Hotels Trust helps fund One In A Million Charity
Crerar Hotels Trust has thrown its support behind ‘One in a Million’ to help children and young people in deprived areas of Bradford and surrounding areas. A £2,000 donation was made to the charity which will provide support for either or both Sports and Community Education projects. Sports project – healthy exercise plus education on such issues as crime and ASB, drugs and alcohol, guns and knives. Community Education project – courses in creative subjects – drama, dance, music, film, photography, IT.
One in a Million is focused on improving the social and moral welfare, personal development and quality of life for disadvantaged, excluded and vulnerable children and young people from deprived areas of Bradford.
On receipt of the donation, John Mitchell from the charity said: “We are greatly encouraged that such an esteemed Trust, represented locally, identifies with the work that we do and wishes to be associated with us as a Charity. Their support is very much appreciated and will make a significant difference to what we are able to achieve. Thank you Crerar Hotels Trust”.
'All projects are open to any youngsters, irrespective of colour, creed, ethnicity, gender, sexual persuasion or social standing and are designed to provide opportunities and pathways for better progression.
Through our Sports projects, the charity organises grassroots events in a number of indoor and outdoor sports, including football, cricket and athletics. As well as providing healthy exercise the sessions reinforce “teamwork” and incorporate education about issues such as racism and cultural intolerance: crime and ASB, gun and knives, substance abuse, obesity, poor nutrition, bullying and peer pressure, behaviour, citizenship and lifestyle.
The Community Education project offers courses in creative subjects that NEET youngsters can relate to and engage in (arts and crafts, dance and drama, music and song writing, film and video production, IT and web design, catering and food technology).
On meeting with the charity Mark commented that ‘it was a pleasure and an honour to be handing the cheque over and hear all about what One in a Million manage to achieve.’
