Cyrenians charity awarded £7,000 by Crerar Trust
Cyrenians, a Scottish charity supporting people excluded from family, home, work or community on their life journey, received a £7000 award, from Crerar Trust. The fund is to help the charity deliver it’s Good Food Programme, a social enterprise with a mission to bring good food and healthy lifestyles to vulnerable people experiencing disadvantage.
Ewan Aitken, Cyrenians CEO said: “We are extremely grateful for this grant which is critical to helping us deliver our services. Last year, our Good Food programme redistributed nearly 300,000 tonnes of quality surplus quality food (through our Fareshare franchise) which benefitted over 4500 individuals every week. We delivered 280 food education classes which encourage healthy eating and promote social inclusion. This grant will enable us to further expand our programme to help feed and support more people, over a greater geographical area, and to make a real difference to those in need”.
