Shooting, hunting and stalking in Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park

Vast and varied wildlife, beautiful scenery and great sporting opportunities make Royal Deeside a truly special place.

As well as the thriving populations of black grouse and red squirrels, nature enthusiasts will also be able to track golden eagles, capercaillies and amazing wild cats. The area is renowned for hunting red, roe and fallow deer as they have well-managed stocks of all three species. You would be able to stalk for Red deer in the woodlands and heather-clad moorland. Roe deer stalking is available in both the hills or from high seats in the woodlands on the estate’s lower ground.

You also could hunt for large red stags, as is the opportunity to achieve the ultimate sporting feat by taking part in the Macnab Challenge, (where you stalk a red deer, shoot a brace of grouse and catch a salmon all within one day).

There are a few estates in Royal Deeside that offer organised grouse shooting by car or foot, as well as red and roe deer stalking trips.
