Dining at Eight Acres Hotel & Leisure Club means fresh, tasty, carefully prepared food.  Using only the best regional ingredients where possible, talented head chef Stuart Aitken and his brigade will look after, prepare and cook for you to sample in the Darroch Restaurant.  With views overlooking private woodland and landscaped gardens... this quiet dining room is a real retreat from the outside world.

Your dining experience at Eight Acres from start to finish has plenty of choice to suit any occasion and more importantly your taste buds. Our menus incorporate as much Scottish produce as possible. The daily three course menu is available so guests can sample a variety of appealing small plates, or dine from the a la carte menu.

The lounge bar is found up a few stairs from reception and features a large flat screen TV and the lower lounge has a conservatory feel with floor to ceiling windows on two sides and French doors leading onto decking for those long summer days.  The gardens have a pond and picnic tables, perfect for a spot of al fresco dining or afternoon tea.

You’ll be looked after by our head chef Stuart Aitken and his team. Since taking on the kitchen, Stuart has always focused on seasonally inspired, locally sourced food.  With concentration on attention to detail, passionate cooking and uncompromising standards, Stuart and his brigade focus on bringing gourmet food to customers in a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere.  With such local roots, staying connected to the community is paramount to Stuart, a philosophy that has come to shape The Darroch Restaurant. As a finalist in Grampian Chef of the Year 2013 and an impressive experience his menus change seasonally and offer a contemporary take on Scottish classics.  

Bar & Lounge 

Light snacks and meals are available to order from our lounge menu, along with a comprehensive list of wines, Champagne, cocktails and whiskies.

Our extensive daytime menu includes homemade favourites plus a selection of lighter options like salads and sandwiches. Available in the bar or lounges, daily from midday until 8:45pm. 

Our night porter will also serve drinks and sandwiches in your room after hours, tea and coffee is available 24/7, so please just ask.

 

Drink

The lounge and bar are warm and inviting - perfect for a quick bite, an intimate meal or a fun meeting place for a special occasion with friends and family. 

Each Crerar Hotel has its own malt whisky menu and an excellent wine list chosen by our personal master of wines, Tarquin de Burgh. The bar stocks over 30 single malt whiskies, including whisky from the Highlands, Lowlands, Islands, and Speyside, and a selection of quality gins and vodkas. Our cocktail menu includes classics like the Mojito and our own creation - in homage to our sister hotels in Scotland - The Flying Scotsman, a moreish concoction of whisky, vermouth, Angostura bitters and honey served with ice.

Originally created to tame the hunger of mid-afternoon, afternoon tea has long become a much-loved tradition enjoyed by many. At Eight Acres we invite you to take afternoon tea wherever most takes your fancy, from the cosy lounge to our pretty gardens. 

The afternoon tea menu includes Victorian style finger sandwiches, homemade scones with strawberry preserve and lashings of clotted cream and an assortment of cakes and desserts to accompany your pot of chosen tea (or coffee). Add a bit of sparkle with a glass of Champagne or a refreshing jug of Pimm’s!

Dressing for dinner... 

Super casual is our code and we want you to wear whatever feels comfortable.  Do feel free to push the boat out if you fancy a glamorous evening - guests often dress up for dinner. We’ll happily take reservations, and if you wish to dine earlier or later than our usual serving hours, please let us know in advance and we will do our upmost to accommodate you.

Wake up to breakfast...

Crerar Breakfast has been carefully put together by our food committee and our breakfast menu has a great range of choices, from a full cooked or vegetarian cooked breakfast, favourites such as Eggs Benedict and Cinnamon French Toast, to lighter options such as fruit salad, cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit juices. All Crerar chefs enter the World Porridge Making Championships every year which means our porridge takes some beating! 

We believe greatly in locally sourced ingredients, high quality and seasonal produce for our menus, which means occasionally dishes from our advertised menus may be unavailable.
