Eat & Drink in Oban
Oban is known as the ‘seafood capital’ of Scotland and Oban Bay Hotel & Spa consistently features a daily catch on the à la carte menu alongside many dishes, layered with complex and original flavours combining traditional Scottish food with a modern twist.
As proud supporters of 'Year of Food and Drink Scotland 2015', our menus incorporate as much Scottish produce as possible. There is a significant offering of mussels, scallops and oysters all of which are caught in Oban. The hotel has a great relationship with the local fishermen and the nearby family-run Inverarwe Smokehouse - a traditional smokery, fishery and country park.
For those who prefer something different to seafood, the menu has plenty of choice, including the best meat steaks in the west, where possible sourced from the Crerar Hotels own home farm, grass fed herd pedigree Lammermuir Luing herd.
Whether you choose to eat in our restaurant, lounge or bar, you’ll have views across the bay and up to the Highlands, a great opportunity to take in thegloriouswest coast landscape. Menus change seasonally to make the most of the local produce available, including on our Young Diner’s Menu so that the whole family can try our recommended dishes.

The Rannachan Restaurant welcomes hotel guests and local diners from 6.30pm each evening. Seating 90, it is a large enough space to gather with a big group or take up a cosy corner for an imtimate meal for two.
Both fish and meat dishes are represented well across the six course taster menu and the à la carte menu. Expect to sample dishes like crab linguine along with plenty of turf-based dishes from duck to pheasant.
The six course taster experience starts with two amuse-bouches - one may be a Brie and apple tarte tatin, the other a bruschetta of roasted peppers, marscapone and oak soaked sherry vinaigrette. A selection of warm bread is offered while pondering the menu. The à la carte menu leaves the choice up to you but be assured that every care and attention is made as chef prepares the dish from raw, fresh, wholesome ingredients.
Breakfast in the Rannachan Restaurant offers the chance to set yourself up for the day with a wide selection of breakfast items from yogurts and cereals to eggs and smoked Scottish salmon.
We believe greatly in locally sourced ingredients, high quality and seasonal produce for our menus, which means occasionally dishes from our advertised menus may be unavailable.
Head chef Steven Cameron has transformed the Rannachan Restaurant in Oban Bay Hotel & Spa. Throughout his 30 year career, Steven has developed a creativity that is evident at the restaurant. The daily changing menus at Oban Bay Hotel reflect his commitment to using conscientiously produced farmstead ingredients and fresh seafood.
The sun lounge runs the entire length of the front of the hotel so has impressive views of the bay and Kerrera beyond. It’s the perfect place to unwind with a good book or a wee dram while watching the sun set. Afternoon tea is also available here, and a log fire keeps the lounge cosy in winter months.
The Atlantic Bar serves classic bar meals from midday until 2.30pm and stocks an extensive selection of Scottish ales, with local Loch Fyne ale on tap. As with all Crerar Hotels, Oban Bay Hotel & Spa has our own whisky menu featuring a selection of 65 traditional Scotch malt whiskies ranging from the smooth Speyside Macallan to the peaty Lagavulin of Islay - whisky fans will be in their element.
Our wine menu has been created by our very own master of wines, Tarquin de Burgh, and offers an excellent choice from creamy Italian whites and fruity rosés to warming reds, all available by the bottle or 175ml/250ml glass.
We also offer two Scottish gins – Botanist Islay, a limited edition gin made with 31 botanicals (22 of which are native to Islay, including wild Islay juniper) and produced by the Bruichladdich distillery in Islay,and Hendricks, which is infused with rose and cucumber and made in Girvan, South Ayrshire.
For something a bit more creative... try a Flying Scotsman perhaps? An intense concoction of whisky, vermouth, Angostura Bitters and honey, served on ice, or another cocktail depending on your tipple of choice, gin fans will love our Hendrick's Cucumber Collins, a refreshing mix of Hendrick's Gin, elderflower cordial, lemon juice, soda water and cucumber.
The sun lounge or Atlantic bar makes an ideal spot to enjoy a relaxed Sunday lunch.
