Eight Acres Hotel. About the Area

Explore Scotland’s beloved Morayshire

Historical Site - Elgin Cathedral
Established in 1224 by Alexander II. Much of the work is in a late 13th century style and is the most notable example of this rich heritage. It's said that this superb ruin was Scotland's most beautiful cathedral. Learn more about Elgin Cathedral and it's past.

Attraction - Elgin Museum
Founded in 1836 the Museum houses many important collections of Archaeology, Science, Art, Natural History, Geology, Ethnography and Social History. It is best known for pictish stones, showcasing the Picts and their facisnating symbols carved in stone.

Whisky - Malt Whisky Trail
Follow the world-famous Malt Whisky Trail through Speyside to seven working distilleries. From Benromach to Dallas Dhu, from Glen Moray to Strathisla, home and heart of Chivas Regal; from the Glen Grant distillery to the Speyside Cooperage where real coopers work with incredible speed and skill. Speyside, the world's favourite malt whisky region.

In the Elgin itself is the Glen Moray Distillery, a small, friendly and informal distillery, which produces a single malt Speyside whisky with rich and spicy characteristics.
