The Marie Curie Etape Caledonia race is at the forefront of closed road racing. The event has recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and is already looking ahead to the future of this growing sport. The course is 81 miles long and allows competitors and spectators alike to take in the idyllic highland countryside. All are welcome from cycling aficionados to greenhorns looking to experience the excitement and thrill of riding through such a picturesque course on closed roads. The start and finish lines reside in the stunning village of Pitlochry and take competitors on a round trip of the surroundings.

The Atholl Gathering takes place on the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May every year. This unrivalled spectacle gives locals and visitors alike the chance to participate in a unique Highland tradition that has persisted for generations. The two day Atholl Gathering weekend consists of The Atholl Highlanders' Parade on Saturday followed by the Highland Games on Sunday.

This organisation has been hosting competitors and captivating spectators since being re-established in 1852. The event has increased in popularity over the years and nowadays draws crowds of over 5,000, not including the competitors, judges and event staff. A number of competitions are held including Tug o’ War, highland dancing, piping and band competitions, high jump as well as numerous running and cycling events and many more. The ‘Heavy’ events include ‘putting’ or throwing the 16lb, 22lb, 28lb and 56 lb stones and hammers either by distance or over a bar. You can expect to enjoy a full day of competitive and traditional sport, fun for the entire family.
