Children 1st works to give every child in Scotland a safe and secure childhood.
The funding from Crerar Trust will assist with abuse and trauma recovery in Argyll & Bute which helps children aged 5 to 18 recover from abuse. The support of £15,000 will help 40 children recover from abuse.
Children 1st helps Scotland’s families to put children first, with practical advice and support in difficult times. And when the worst happens, they support survivors of abuse, neglect and other traumatic events in childhood to recover.
Children 1st have 63 services across 18 local authorities, from the Highlands to the Scottish Borders focusing in the areas of;
- Supporting children and young people recover from the trauma of physical, sexual, domestic and emotional abuse
- Supporting children and families, particularly in the earliest years
- Engaging with communities to help keep children safe
Children 1st’s project covers the whole of Argyll and Bute. At present we are supporting children in Campbeltown, Dunoon, Rothesay, Balloch, Oban, Helensburgh and Lochgilphead.
We’re applying to the Crerar Trust for a grant for the project because of the Trust’s strong connections with Argyll & Bute through your Hotels in Oban, Isle of Mull and Inverary. In addition, there are very few other funders with links to, or an interest in, supporting work with vulnerable children in this remote area of Scotland.
