National Youth Orchestras of Scotland
Crerar Trust has donated £5,000 to The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland to support The NYOS Pathway Access Programme which offers the greatest number of young people across Scotland access to residential training courses and performance opportunities each year.
The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland nurtures the skills and future prospects of young people in Scotland aged eight to 25 through accessible, high quality orchestral and jazz music projects.
The NYOS project aims to harness the transformational effects of music-making on young people, to foster life-long transferable skills, as well as a musical education. NYOS is inclusive and accessible; this means offering all Jazz Workshop Auditions and Orchestral Consultations free of charge, heavily subsidising all members’ fees by approximately two-thirds, and providing additional bursaries and an instrument bank.
Crerar Trust’s donation will be used to help The NYOS Pathway Access Programme offer a series of Orchestral Consultations and Jazz Workshop Auditions designed to offer the greatest possible number of young people across Scotland access to The NYCOS Pathway.
The NYOS Pathway Access Programme 2015 will enable over 700 young musicians to benefit from participation in the programme.
