St Andrew's Hospice, Lanarkshire
Crerar Trust has donated £5,000 to St Andrew’s Hospice, a charity who support people requiring palliative care in South and North Lanarkshire.
St Andrews Hospice, although situated in Airdrie, has been providing Specialist Palliative Care Services to people in both South and North Lanarkshire for 30 years and care for a population in excess of 650,000. The hospice is Lanarkshire’s Centre of Excellence and provides total care of patients who require complex symptom management and/or end of life, with the traumas and challenges they face.
All services at St Andrew’s Hospice are provided free of charge to the patients, families and carers and include a 30 bedded specialist palliative care unit, a day hospice offering care for up to 60 patients every week and a specialist range of support services, including a children’s drop in service which provides counselling services for children and young people who have a family member who is terminally ill or who have lost a loved one.
Crerar Trust's donation will be put towards replacing existing recliner chairs that are old and no longer fully meet the needs of the patients or staff. They will be replaced by recliner chairs which will meet the various different needs of the patients in the hospice. Being safe, robust and functional, they are fully compliant with safety standards and legislation and have been designed around the principles of patient safety, infection control, easy moving and handling, easy to clean and efficient servicing. The chairs have various specialist functions, nurse/patient controls and are very easy to use.
