Kidney Kids Scotland

The Crerar Trust awarded a grant of £10,000 to Kidney Kids Scotland. This money will be used to expand and maintain the newly launched Home Haemodialysis service at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.  Kidney Kids Scotland have thus far purchased 2 machines and are funding a specialist nurse.  These funds will be crucial in allowing the charity to supply more machines to enable children in Scotland to be dialysed at home and to continue to fund the specialist paediatric renal nurse who was instrumental in getting this service up and running.  This is the first time that children in Scotland have been able to receive haemodialysis treatment in their own home.

Karen McFarlane from Kidney Kids Scotland added:

“Kidney Kids Scotland are absolutely delighted to have received this generous grant from Crerar Hotels. The Home Haemodialysis Service is already making a huge difference to the quality of life for the first little boy in Scotland to use it. This is only the beginning – Kidney Kids Scotland are committed to maintaining and expanding this service to help more children and their families.”
