Travel Guide - Inveraray, Argyll

There’s an impressive choice of beautiful places to visit and interesting things to do in Scotland and our hotel makes the perfect base for exploring the west coast.

Inveraray Castle, just a short walk from the hotel, is the ancestral home of the Duke of Argyll who founded the town in 1745, and Inveraray Jail, completed in 1820, is a ‘living museum’ where real people portray what life was like in a 19th century prison.

There is an annual Fyne Fest featuring a selection of over 30 of the tastiest ales and scrumpies from around the UK plus live Scottish music from some of the best bands on the west coast. The annual Inveraray Highland Games take place in the castle grounds and traditional skills in piping, Highland dancing and athletics are demonstrated by experts from all over the UK.
