For a more informal dining experience, Stockman's bar offers Aberdeenshire beef and fish from Peterhead. Afternoon tea can be taken in any one of our lounge areas or al fresco on the lawn to the front of the house.
High ceilings, brass chandeliers and Wedgwood green walls set an elegant dining scene from breakfast to dinner. Picture windows frame views of woods and parkland.
Lunch is served in The Green Lady with light beaming in through the tall windows. In the evening, the chandeliers are dimmed and candles are lit for dinner service.
Guests start the day in The Green Lady with a full Scottish breakfast or a light continental choice. A light breakfast of fruits, cereals, yoghurts, toast with Scottish butter and jams, coffee and a selection of teas. Or all of the above and a menu that includes Eggs Benedict, cinnamon French toast, peat smoked salmon, Finnan haddie and our house plate of smoked back bacon, farm egg, highlander sausage, haggis, Charles Macleod Stornoway black pudding and a grilled tomato. The vegetarian house plate has vegetarian sausage.
Portraits of prize Scottish cattle fill the walls of our beamed-ceiling bar.
Scottish ales and an extensive wine list accompany a bar menu of burgers and Josper-grilled steaks.
Stockman’s bar is a place you can sample prime cuts of Aberdeenshire steak prepared on our Spanish Josper grill. Steak night is every Thursday from 5pm until close.
Stockman’s serves locally brewed Deeside Ale, a selection of other draft and bottled lagers and beers, and of course fine wines from a huge list - by the glass or by the bottle. There is an extensive selection of Scottish whiskies and gins as well as a cocktail menu.
Our lounge service menu is available in the Club Room, Lounge and Gallery.
Food is served during the day outwith restaurant dining times. Dining options include morning pastries, sandwiches and afternoon treats such as scones and jam.
Hot and cold small plates and starter dishes are available until 6pm every day.
The classic bar menu includes a selection of regional malt whiskies and gins, serving a real taste of all that Scotland has to offer.
Wines have been specially selected to complement the dining experience at Thainstone. Our wine list is comprehensive; including Prosecco, Henriot Champagne, and a selection of wines compiled with the help of our trusted personal master of wines, Tarquin de Burgh.
Afternoon tea at Thainstone House can be taken in The Green Lady restaurant. Afternoon tea works well with an extra bit of sparkle – add a glass of Prosecco or Champagne. Served from 12pm to 5pm daily.

North-East Scotland offers the pick of Scotland’s larder, such as Aberdeenshire beef, Inverurie lamb, wild halibut and Loch Etive trout. We work with local farms, suppliers and artisan producers as much as we can to bring together the best of the area and the season in creative dishes for our menus.
