During World War 2, Loch Fyne Hotel was known as Admiratly House and was the only place outside of London to be used for a war time cabinet office meeting. Dignitaries to visit the building included: H.M King George VI, Winston Churchill, General De Gaulle, King Haakon of Norway, Admiral Lord Keyes, Viscount Louis Mountbatten, General Eisenhower, Mr Winant, General MacNaughton and General Sirkoski of Poland. The war room still exists to this day and is now named as the Waterfront Room!
