Saturday 5th September
The Braemar Gathering
From £22 per person
This cherished Scottish tradition is held at The Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
Since 1832, the Braemar Gathering is always held on the first Saturday in September.
Expect a full day of Highland tradition: the kilted Heavies (hammer throw, putting the stone, and tossing the caber), tug o' war, solo piping and massed pipe bands, Highland dancing, and track and field events. The highlight for many is the Gathering Hill Race - a gruelling climb of 1,200 feet up to the park's five cairns and back.
