Which space in Dunkeld House Hotel did you get married in? The Lawn
How many guests? 86
How did you meet? We met in 2016 after Céline moved from South Africa to Edinburgh. She visited a bar with her family that I (Cain) was working in. I flirted with Céline every time her parents went outside to smoke and gave her some free cocktails. At the end of the night, she left her phone number on the bill for me.
How did the proposal happen? I took Céline to her home country, we visited Cape Town and spent 2 weeks having an amazing time on safari, in the wine region and exploring South Africa. At the end of the holiday I took her to a place with a gorgeous view of Cape Town called Sunset Rock, and got down on one knee there at sunset. I hired a photographer who was hidden and captured the amazing moment.
Did you have an overall theme on the day? We wanted to embrace the Scottish element of the wedding so that was our theme. We had the bagpiper, grooms party in kilts, haggis, ceilidh dancing – it was fantastic.
What did the bride wear? Martina Liana wedding dress
What did the bridal party wear? Blue dresses of their own choosing
What did the groom wear? Full kilt outfits from Macgregor and Macduff
First dance song? Iris – Goo Goo Dolls
Did you have any entertainment on the day? String Trio (Scotia Strings)
Why was Dunkeld House Hotel a special choice for you? We fell completely in love with the stunning views the first time we saw it, it is a perfect secluded location that felt like we were in another world.
Did the hotel offer you something others didn’t? Everything on offer was phenomenal – from the first detail to the last, every single time we visited, Dunkeld House Hotel was flawless and could not have been a better choice.
What made you choose Dunkeld House Hotel? While we loved the surroundings and scenery, we were completely sold on Lisa Marie. Her passion is absolutely infectious and we knew from the first meeting that we were in safe hands. We had no doubt that she would move mountains to give us the best wedding possible and she absolutely delivered. She was a delight to work with and took so much stress out of wedding planning.
What was the best part of your day? Seeing each other for the first time – Cain seeing Céline walking down the aisle, Céline seeing Cain waiting for her at the end of the aisle.
Do you have any special anecdotes or funny stories from the day? Our dog is our baby and she was our ring bearer and was with us for a lot of the day. It was fantastic seeing her come down the aisle and having her join us for photos. I’m really glad Dunkeld House Hotel is dog friendly.
Any wedding wisdom for other couples? Enjoy every second and spend as much time together on the wedding day as possible. Try your best not to get stressed about anything and just enjoy having all the people you love most in the one place.
Would you recommend Dunkeld House Hotel to other couples? Absolutely – I could not recommend it enough!

How did you meet? In 2019, on a night out in Aberdeen!
How did the proposal happen? In February 2023 Niall surprised me with a few nights child free at Dunkeld House, we took a walk along the Hermitage, reached Ossians Hall and as I was looking at the waterfall he got down on one knee. We had the best weekend celebrating!
Did you have an overall theme on the day? Traditional Scottish, nice scenery, pink and white flowers, fun and vibey!
What did the bride wear? Suzanne Neville – Holst, purchased from Perfect Bridal Rooms, Aberdeen
What did the bridal party wear? Bridesmaids – Pretty Lavish dresses in blush pink. Groomsmen – Rivers of Scotland tartan with midnight jacket – Mitchell Scott, Aberdeenshire
What did the groom wear? Hadrian tartan with graphite jacket
First Dance song? Pointless – Lewis Capaldi
Did you have any entertainment on the day? Glasgow Piano man for ceremony and reception drinks, 360 photo booth starting at evening reception, champagne tower instead of a cake and The Big Papas band!
Why was Dunkeld House Hotel a special choice for you? We stayed here after Niall proposed, the staff are always so accommodating and friendly and not to mention the hotel, grounds and spa are beautiful!
Did the hotel offer you something others didn’t? The river setting and the stunning scenery around, the marquee and the bagpiper was a big plus as well!
What made you choose Dunkeld House Hotel? This will forever be such a special place to us and we’ve always had a great stay.
What was the best part of your day? EVERY SECOND OF IT!
Do you have any special anecdotes or funny stories from the day? The groom opening his hire bag to the wrong colour of shoes and groomsmen wrong coloured socks resulting in a guest having to make a mad dash to a Perth dresswear to save the day!
Our daughter, Callie, decided it was Callie’s wedding and stood between us during the whole ceremony.
Any wedding wisdom for other couples? Spend as much time as you can with your bride/groom on the day as it really does pass so quickly

How the love story began….
We were at the same school (in different years), but we never spoke! It wasn’t until after our school days, 11 years later that were set up by a mutual friend who was one of our bridesmaids at the wedding.

It was perfect from start to finish. We had the best day of our lives.
What was your favourite part of the day?
The moment we saw each other at the end of the aisle. We couldn’t believe that our time had finally arrived.
Is there anything you would change/do differently?
Due to covid restrictions we had to make some small tweaks to the day, however the hotel made sure that we had the most perfect day – and looking back there isn’t anything we would change.
How was your experience at Dunkeld House Hotel?
Absolutely amazing. Nestled on the banks of the River Tay with the most incredible grounds, the setting is literally picture perfect. We knew very quickly after we were engaged that our wedding venue would be Dunkeld House Hotel. It’s a special place for us – Nicola has been coming to the hotel since she was a little girl and always dreamed of having her wedding here one day and after we enjoyed many breaks here together over the years, it became a special place for both of us.
May, the wedding co-ordinator, is absolutely incredible. Throughout our wedding planning, she was always 10 steps ahead. She is always so helpful, her level of organisation is gold standard and attention to detail is something else! This ensured that no stone was left unturned and our wedding day was everything we ever imagined.
The day flowed so well, the food was amazing and the team at Dunkeld could not have delivered us a better day. We, and all our guests, said it was just an amazing wedding. We really cannot thank all of the Dunkeld team enough.

Don’t get bogged down in the small details. We can talk from experience that May and the rest of the Dunkeld team take care of them for you to make sure that all you need to do is enjoy your day.

Our day was completely perfect. It couldn’t have gone any better and was exactly how we imagined it to be. We couldn’t have wished for more and were so happy with how our day went.
What was your favourite part of the day?
The whole day! Everything from start to finish was just amazing and we loved every minute of it from getting ready, the ceremony, our reception, and our meal/night reception. Every part of the day went so smoothly.
Is there anything you would change/do differently?
Absolutely nothing. Even with Covid restrictions, we still wouldn’t change or do anything differently.
How was your experience at Dunkeld House Hotel?
Our experience was really great. All the staff were so kind, professional, and willing to help out no matter what. A special mention to May as she was outstanding from the moment we booked, right up until after our wedding. I (Lynsay) was constantly emailing asking a million questions right up to the day and May couldn’t have been more helpful. She really made everything run so smoothly on the day as well. We really couldn’t have picked a better venue.
Advice for future bride and grooms:
Do what makes you happy. You will never please everyone and need to do what makes you happy as you’re only getting married once. Also, enjoy your wedding day and take a few moments to just relax as it goes by so quickly.
