Our first floor restaurant, The Dining Room, benefits from stunning views of Grasmere Lake from every window and the contemporary menu on offer provides the perfect Lake District dining experience with a modern twist.
The walls are dotted with portraits of famous faces taken from the National Portrait Gallery and are organised into three themes: popular celebrities, the 1960s, and people who made us laugh. We hope you enjoy the company!

Ashley Wakefield
With more than 20 years in professional kitchens, Executive Chef Ashley Wakefield brings a wealth of experience to The Daffodil, with a career spanning luxury hotels, acclaimed Lake District restaurants, multi-site hospitality, and bespoke private aviation. Recognised as a Master Craftsman by the Craft Guild of Chefs, Ashley has developed a distinctive approach to food that combines classical foundations with modern British cooking. His philosophy centres on seasonality, exceptional produce, and allowing quality ingredients to speak for themselves. Drawing inspiration from the landscape and larder of the Lake District, Ashley’s menus balance refinement with generosity — creating dishes that are elegant without being overcomplicated, and above all, memorable. At The Daffodil, his ambition is to create a dining experience that feels entirely at home in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
