The Venue
Built in the 18th century, Thainstone House has a rich history as a much-loved family home, grand Aberdeenshire landmark and now a hotel and exclusive wedding venue.
An Idyllic Setting
The parkland and manicured gardens make Thainstone House a wedding contender for any bride looking for a traditional and grand house, with plenty of room for an outside ceremony or bucks fizz and canapés on the lawn. Parking is ample and free of charge, meaning guests can arrive stress free with ample time and space for a quiet stroll in the parkland.
The Ballroom
The Ballroom is a grand room and suited to those with a large number of friends and family sharing their big day. Capacity for up to 150 guests.
The Green Lady
The Green Lady restaurant is a long room with Wedgewood green walls, grand paintings and huge windows drawing in the natural light from the parkland. It's well suited to a long aisle for that dramatic entrance. Capacity for up to 100 guests.
Laird's Room
If you have an intimate wedding in mind, then the seclusion of our Laird's Room will suit your needs. The Laird's Room can be used for small ceremonies and your wedding breakfast celebrations.
Breakout Areas
The lounge and gallery can be used as an area for guests to use between your ceremony and wedding breakfast as well as a space to welcome your evening wedding reception guests.
The Grounds
Ceremonies can be held outside on the lawn and our acres of woodland ground provide plenty of opportunities for photos of the newlyweds, friends and family.

Our all inclusive wedding packages experiences are priced per person, available seven days throughout the year. If you wish to customise your wedding, ‘tailor made’ prices apply to individually create your own wedding package.

Exclusive Use Weddings
If you’re looking to create a personal touch, exclusive use ensures you can make this grand mansion house your own on your special wedding day.
Exclusive Use Wedding Venue
You’re free to use any area within the house as part of your wedding celebrations, and doors are closed to any other guests for the duration of your wedding. Exclusive use is guaranteed by a venue hire charge covering the period from 11am on your wedding day until 11am the following day.
Special Accommodation Rates
Bridal parties who wish to take over Thainstone House exclusively will also receive use of all bedrooms at special accommodation rates. So you can rest assured your guests are comfortable, and focus on you.
Wedding Ceremonies
Thainstone House is licensed for civil, religious and humanist ceremonies, which can take place outside on the lawn, or inside in the Ballroom, The Green Lady or other smaller rooms. All rooms are large with tall windows throughout, ensuring your special day is one of grandeur and brightness.
